Q. When is the best time of year to lay turf?A. Turf can be laid all year round, in summer you do need to ensure that you keep the turf watered regularly.
Q. Is turf difficult to lay?
A. No, it is very straight forward, we do provide an informative leaflet about laying turf which can be downloaded from our website or we can post one out for you.
Q. How should I prepare the site for laying turf?
A. We have an excellent leaflet with instructions on preparing the site. This can be downloaded from our website or we will happily post one out for you.
Q. How soon can you deliver?
A. Delivery can be as quickly as the next day providing your order is placed before 2pm .
Q. Can your driver deliver the turf to the back garden?
A. All turf deliveries are kerbside but if he can get it up the drive for you he will.
Q. How long after the turf has been laid can I mow the lawn?
A. During the growing season the turf can root down within a week. If you lift a corner of the turf and it is adhering to the soil then you can give it it's first cut, set you mower to the highest setting and gradually reduce to the desired height with subsequent mowings.
Q. How long after laying the turf can it be walked on?
A. You should wait until the turf is well rooted, usually 2 - 3 weeks. Of course you can go on to mow the lawn.
Q. Which turf is the best for heavy duty family use?
A. The most popular turf that we supply for heavy duty use is the Lawna grade.
Q. Which turf is most suited for a garden with trees/shade?
A. We recommend our Crown Gold turf.
Q. Which turf is the cheapest?
A. Either economix, which is downgrade or our popular Sportsman.
Q. What sort of turf do you supply?
A. We supply a range of turf which we feel covers all aspects of grass surface requirements.
Q. How often do I have to feed the lawn?
A. You should feed the lawn every 4 - 6 weeks throughout the growing season.
Q. Have you got a turf that is easy maintenance?
A. All our turf is low maintenance and contains top quality grasses.
Q. How thick is the turf?
A. The turf is harvested between half and one inch thick.
Q. What size are the rolls?
A. The rolls measure 16" wide and 98" long which covers a square metre in area.
Q. Is the turf nice and green?
A. Our turf is maintained to the highest standard and is green and healthy when harvested.
Q. Do you deliver on Saturdays?
A. We offer deliveries on Saturdays.
Q. Can I collect my turf?
A. We have a number of collection depots, please enquire if we have one near you.
Q. How much soil do I need under the turf?
A. You require a minimum of 4 - 6" of good quality soil for the turf to root into.
Q. How do I get rid of the weeds before I prepare the site?
A. We recommend the use of Round-up to eradicate weeds before preparing the site for turf.
Q. Does the turf need to be level, above or below my path?
A. We recommend the turf is level with the path or very slightly over to prevent your mower catching it.
Q. Do you deliver to my area?
A. We offer nationwide next day delivery.
Q. Can you give me a time for my delivery?
A. We can usually tell you if the turf will be delivered during the morning or afternoon.
Q. Can you give me a discount?
A. We will negotiate on larger orders.
Q. How is the turf delivered?
A. The turf is either delivered using our own vehicles with forklift off load or on a pallet truck with pallet trolley.
Q. Do you sell any other products?
A. We offer a range of tools, fertilisers, soil, seed, bark mulch, grass seed, hose pipes and sprinklers and a selection of shrubs.
Q. How much is your turf?
A. Our turf is competitively priced from £2.40 M². Delivery is additional depending on the quantity and area for delivery.
Q. Should I put anything on the soil before I lay the turf?
A. We highly recommend the use of a pre-turfing fertiliser to promote establishment and a healthy root system. We sell Lawn Start which can be delivered with your turf order.
Q. Can you lay turf on sandy soil?
A. Yes, you just need to make sure that you feed the lawn regularly as sandy soil leaches fertiliser. You also need to be generous with watering during dry weather.
Q. What times do you open?
A. We are open Monday - Friday 7.30am - 5.30pm and seasonally on Saturdays 8am - 12noon. However, you can order online 24 hours a day.
